User Ratings and Reviews

2 Stars Ok but not a classic.
I’m very familiar with the Final Fantasy series and I’ve brought alot of the versions dating back to the original playstation. I played this game for a few hours and to be honest its kinda childish and silly. Its not at all capturing like the original FFVII. Alot of running around hacking, slashing, button mashin like some of the other review submitters have posted. Not much strategy needed which makes for a boring game. I’ve been playing FF Tactics War of the Lion for almost a year now and I prefer to play that more than this. Too much hype and I think the makers of this game were looking for a way to take advantage of the FF name and the enormous fan base. This game has alot of holes in it and its missing the key ingredient that the early version of FFV II possesed; player involvement. I didnt “feel” any attachment to any character in this game unlike Cloud and Aeris. I wish I would have rented this game before or read more previews and reviews. Die hard final fantasy gamers will probably by it for the namesake but not much else. I doubt that I will even play it through till end. Rent it first, buy a reduced price trade in copy, or borrow it from a friend first.

5 Stars You Won’t Be Dissapointed
I was reading some of the other reviews on this game and was surprised by some of the comments. Someone called it a hack and slash, linear game with poor camera angles…or something to that effect. I can’t be more contradictory to those statements than if I just said “wrong”.

First, the game is only linear in storyline…but how many games aren’t? This game has a huge optional quest menu that allows you to choose which quests you will open and what rewards you will gain along with little bonus/unnecessary missions that you find throughout the game. At many times during the game you are also even allowed to free rome many areas and talk to people and do side jobs and such.

Next, to call this game a hack and slash game is even more inaccurate. This is easily a live action RPG where you select which move you want to do from a menu system the entire game. Anyone who refers to this game as a hack and slash either doesn’t understand the term “hack and slash”, doesn’t understand how the actions menu of this game works, or hasn’t even actually played the game. If you’re button mashing throughout this game then you aren’t playing the game correctly. I’m interested in knowing how they were even able to make past any of the bosses seeing as how you have 2 separate defensive maneuvers tied to two separate buttons that require somewhat accurate timing on execution to evade attacks. Button masher? Not even close.

And lastly, the camera angles can be a little difficult at times, but overall they are pretty decent and easily adjusted. Not to mentioned this is an RPG so camera angles aren’t overly critical to the gameplay.

Now that the corrections are done, the game has beautiful graphics for a PSP game. The storyline is engaging but a little hokey at times almost as if the writers were trying to stretch the game time a little. The music and controls rock. Much of the FFVII music is used but occasionally you’ll get something new when fighting certain bosses. They also do a great job tying in FFVII to this game’s timeline and show how characters like Cloud and Sephiroth started out. All in all, this lacks almost nothing and feels like the creators crammed as much on that little UMD as they possibly could. But not all games appeal to all people. This game is a live action RPG for the PSP and a great addition to the PSP lineup. Don’t expect PS3 or XBOX360 quality from a PSP game.

4 Stars Good and bad
I took my time with this game and beat it in 35 hours. It was enough fun to play through. Get ready to repeatedly mash the same button over and over. Also, the camera angles are terrible. Side “missions” are necessary to level up but can get pretty boring just running around fields and caves looking for fights. Some side quests are so easy they are pointless and others are more difficult. Overall I enjoyed it, but look forward to improvements on the next one.

5 Stars Worthy addition to the Final Fantasy franchise
If you’re looking for a great RPG for the PSP, this is the one.

The gameplay is fun and inuitive. The combat system is seamless with normal gameplay.

The cutscenes are gorgeous, and the storyline is interesting.

For fans of Final Fantasy VII, this game will bring back fond memories… It elucidates some mysteries while creating other interesting ones.

5 Stars Final Fantasy <3
I’m not a diehard Final Fantasy fan like a few of my friends I know but I liked Final Fantasy after watching the Advent Children movie. The graphixs are amazing and they look so REAL !! Right down to the Motorola Cell Phones they use in the movie and in this game. My Sister bought me the Final Fantasy game for DS but graphixs weren’t all that great. But on PSP it’s Awesome !! The price is pretty reasonable too and well worth the purchasing. I’d recommend it to not just Final Fantasy fans but to any MM0RPG/RPG enthusiasts.

2 Stars It’s the same old Sonic
I’ve never liked Sonic very much. However, when got this game from my wife I decided to give a try. Well, for me it is still not so fun as playing Mario or CTR (Crash Team Race). So, I don’t recommend it.

3 Stars NOT THE BEST, BUT GOOD
OK AT FIRST BUT GETS BORING AFTER A FEW RACES.

3 Stars its ok
i bought this game thinking that it’d be like the sonic from back in the day, but its not. so i guess you could say i’m a little bummed but its my fault for not researching well enough

PSP Protective Filter

October 26th, 2008 PSP Reviews No comments

PSP Protective Filter

The Protective Filter Portable for the PSP is a scratch resistant layer that reduces glare and provides a clearer view of the screen.

User Ratings and Reviews

3 Stars You get but one chance to put it on correctly…
This is an excellent product when applied correctly. My complaint is that you only get one filter. For $6.00 you’d think there would be at least two in the package…it can’t cost more than a few pennies to manufacture one of these. I did get mine applied correctly the first try…well almost.

I used the soapy water solution that one of the other reviewers suggested. This helped a lot and made it easy to position it correctly on the screen. Once all the liquid was pushed out from under the protector film, I could barely tell the film was there. It fit the screen of my brand new PSP slim very well. The problem is that there was a small bubble on the edge that really bothered me (I’m a perfectionist). When I lifted up the edge of the film to remove the speck of dust causing the bubble…it all when to hell!

Once you expose the sticky surface, EVERYTHING sticks to it. Every single speck of dust that sticks to it causes a tiny bubble. As I pulled it up to fix the tiny bubble, it caused two more…as I lifted up to fix those bubbles, it got worse. If only I had a second try of it, I know I could do it…but I don’t feel like spending another $6.00 for it.

One other very important note. The volume buttons on my new PSP stopped working about two hours later. I may have gotten some of the moisture inside of the unit. Either that or the unit was already defective…I don’t know. Luckily, Amazon sent me a replacement PSP right away (thank you, Amazon!).

2 Stars Only one filter!!!
I thought the pack would include 5 filters or at least 2. Only one with this price!

5 Stars The secret of applying this filter
Many people have problem applying the filter. If you just peel off and apply the sticker directly, you will face the following 3 major problem:

1. Dust particles

2. air bubbles (or known as air pockets, caused by air or dust)

3. Sticker orientation accuracy

To solve the above problems, here is the secret and the correct steps, not limited to this PSP filter, in fact, this secret applied to all stickers application.

Do the following steps, and you will be amazed with the result.

Ingredients:

a. The screen protector filter

b. Bowl

c. hand soap, body shampoo (lotion, etc.. anything alcaline based will do)

d. water

e. plastic paper credit card sized or smaller which act as your lifter. Optional, use the front/back plastic cover for the sticker will do as well.

f. tissue paper

Step

1. Wipe the PSP screen clean

2. Fill the bowl with one or two teaspoon amount of hand soap and dilute it with half bowl of water.

3. scoop out the bubbles in the bowl as many as possible.

4. Remove both front and back side of the filter. (remember the up-side)

5. Soak the filter into the bowl and take it out with your plastic paper. (try not to use finger)

6. Apply the filter gently (while it is still little wet)

7. Adjust the filter to the correct position desired.

8. Push the liquid out with a credit card from middle to outside.

9. Wipe any water that squeezed out from the corner of the sticker as soon as soon you see it.

10. If you see dust particle (a small air pocket with a little dust dot in the middle) inside the sticker, lift it up with a plaster paper, remove the dust, and close it back.

11. repeat step 7 to 10 until it is completely dry and up to your desire.

If application is not as your desired, remove the sticker, soak it back to the same bowl, clean the sticker to make sure no dust particles with the same way you lean your contact lens, and reapply. (No, you don’t have to throw your filter!)

Finally you got yourself a perfect application of filter and air bubble-less.

This is the same technique as applying tinted film/stickers on glass windows, car windows and wind screen by the car assessories professionals. The only difference is they spray soap water on the filter instead of using a bowl (coz PSP filter is so small compared with filter for tinted glass application)

Try it, you will be amazed by the result instead of apply directly without soap water.

5 Stars Very Good
This product works well if applied right. Follow the instructions; all instructions, for best results. I had no air bubbles, protects really good, easy to clean. Only thing I have a PSP thin and the filter dosent cover the entire screen, there is a little left over on the edges, not very noticeable though. Only thing I dislike, it only comes with one filter.

1 Star Piece of Garbage
I got this PSP Protective Filter scratched!!!

When I am playing I can clearly see 8 huge scratch on the filter.

On top of that, the PSP Protective Filter does not cover the entire screen!

So, if you feel brave and lucky try it, otherwise you should look for something better.

In conclusion, I will never buy anything else made from this HORI company.

User Ratings and Reviews

5 Stars Excellent HeadPhones
Got it from a local store, for the sole purpose of using skype, but found out that were the best headphones i have ever used.

I cant stand ear buds, and have tried different over the head and wrap around and in every case get tired after a while, with these I pretty much don’t feel any discomfort at all, they are lightweight and have an excellent sound, so now I use them for all my needs on the PSP, a Must have if you own a PSP.

5 Stars Great sound in a small package
I bought this recently for the Summer trip to New York to make calls. It works amazing, the sound clarity is really good and the mic does a better job than some computer mics. So if you need to make calls over Skype, now it’s better to turn on your PSP than your computer, its easier, its faster, and you will have better quality calls.

5 Stars cool headset
this headset is so cool… listening to music is so loud and clear… same with calling uing skype… one tym called my dad, im here in the US and his in the PHILIIPPINES, he said that my voice is so clear its like im just besides him. lol! no problem at all. im glad i bought one. now i totaly love my psp! kudos to sony!

4 Stars Works great for Skype
This does exactly what it’s supposed to, works well for usage of Skype. Just went on my Honeymoon in Mexico and was able to call home on the cheap because of the PSP and headphones. Works well!

5 Stars PSP Skype Headset
It works exactly as advertised. The headphones and microphone provide clear static free sound (at least to my middle aged ears), at a good price to boot. The little inline remote integrates well the the psp.

User Ratings and Reviews

2 Stars Hmmm
I see a lot of 5 stars here, but I was not impressed at all. I got this becuase I used to love the old mortal kombat, but a lot has changed. Im no video game expert, but the game play sucks, and all the extras suck. My choice was between this and the tekkan, and I would teckan over this game anny day.

4 Stars Not the best fighter ever, but …
I’m not a huge Mortal Kombat fan, mainly because of not a huge fan of fighting games. I do end up purchasing Mortal Kombat titles every once in a while, however, and I couldn’t beat the price for this one on the PSP.

It has your standard fighting modes with a good amount of characters (old favorites, too). A chess mode, which I haven’t even touched yet. An adventure mode (same deal — haven’t tried). It also has a puzzle mode which is a lot like Tetris … but with bombs … and traps. Now that is fun. I find myself wanting to play that constantly, and it to term it “addictive” doesn’t do it justice. It is the saving grace for this game as far as I’m concerned.

One neat feature of the game is that it gives you koins that let you unearth graves containing all kinds of fun goodies. There are hundreds of graves to purchase, too, so you will be finding yourself spending a lot of time wandering the graveyard (which is kind of creepy).

Mortal Kombat fans are going to buy this regardless. Fighting fans may or may not love it. But casual fighting fans may find this more enjoyable than the standard, run-of-the-mill Mortal Kombat game.

5 Stars Portal Kombat !!!!
Ever since the first MK came out I have been a huge fan, and this game doesn’t let you down. It has all the basics of an MK game, plus more. It comes with additional fun to play games, that are really focused on an handheld system.

If you have a PSP, I recommend this game. It will entertain you for a huge deal of hours.

Portal Kombat !!!!!

5 Stars Love this!
I love how they conbined deadly alliance & Deception characters plus new ones, great Kombat! NO REPTILE!!!

5 Stars Portable Mortal Kombat
I had been wanting a good fighting game for a while for the PsP and was glad that I picked up this title. A fan of Mortal Kombat since the beginning this title build on the rich Mortal Kombat history. The PsP handles the controls well and the mini games are a blast to play.
